L & C Garage Equipment Services - About / History

L & C Garage Equipment Services was originally a soley owned business created by founder John Bourke, which has since transferred to a Limited Company to facilitate further development of the business.

The business has been trading from it's own offices and warehouse premises in Stockport for 16 years, and prior to that in leased premises for 4 years, a total of 20 years trading to date.

John Bourke's brief history is as follows:
5 years Indentured Apprenticeship with Henley's Limited of Manchester, as a Motor Vehicle Apprentice, training up to fully qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic, with all certificates from Motor Vehicle College, Stretford, Manchester.

John went into the Navy at age 20, for almost 8 years, to gain further engineering skills and to enjoy the travel aspect of the job.

After leaving the Navy at 29, John joined companies such as Sun Tester, Doyce Digital and Crypton, gaining experience in the diagnostic side of the Motor Vehicle trade.

In July 1985 at the ripe old age of 32 John started his own business to occupy the niche in the market for Start Up businesses who wanted cheaper, reconditioned and used diagnostic equipment, as in 1985 Diagnostic Equipment was still £5,000 - £6,000 + V.A.T.

The business has grown to accommodate all aspects of supply, installation, calibration and service of garage equipment. We are distributors for many of the leading Garage Equipment Manufacturers.
